Hanzadi, who attended the Russian Navy Day celebrations in St. Petersburg, Russia, announced the news in an interview with the Iraqi News Agency on the 29th, saying that the two sides had already been in the Indian Ocean and Mok before the end of the year. An agreement was reached between the Lanshui Basin, the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
Hanzadi led a military delegation to participate in the celebration of the Russian Navy Festival. A total of 20 representatives attended the event in St. Petersburg on the 28th.
In explaining the results of his trip to Russia, Hanzadi said that the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces signed an agreement with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
He said that this is the first similar agreement between Tehran and Moscow to promote military cooperation between the two countries, especially in the navy.
At the end of April, Hanzadi announced plans to hold joint naval exercises with Russia in the coming months.
According to the report, the background of the announcement is that since US President Trump unilaterally withdrew from the 2015 Iranian nuclear agreement in 2018 and imposed the “most severe punishment in history” on Iran, the tension between Tehran and Washington The day is getting worse.
The report said that recently, the United States adopted a quasi-war attitude against Iran to strengthen provocative military operations in the Middle East, including the US unmanned reconnaissance plane invading the Iranian border on June 20.
In May 2019, Washington dispatched an aircraft carrier battle group, a bomber task force, and an amphibious assault ship to the Persian Gulf on the grounds of the so-called Iranian threat.
The above-mentioned military deployment has triggered global concerns that the United States may intend to wage war against Iran.
