Furious adolescents in Umuoke Obowo in Imo have set the police headquarters in the town on fire, following claimed murdering of a young fellow in the network by a cop.
The adolescents went on frenzy, following the killing of one Ikenna Ogbunigwe by a cop in the town on Monday. They torched the police headquarters.
Ogbunigwe, a local of Umuoke, Obowo in the Obowo Local Government Area of the state was affirmed dead at the Mercy Hospital in Umuoke after he was raced to the medical clinic by certain adolescents.
Upon Ogbunigwe’s passing the young people plummeted on the police headquarters, trucking endlessly guns and different displays at the station and discharging prisoners.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the divisional cop was taken to security by his associates after the crowd endeavored to lynch him.
An onlooker, who argued namelessness, uncovered that Ogbunigwe’s body was taken to the police headquarters in dissent before the station was set on fire.
The observer clarified that inconvenience began when Ogbunigwe stood up to the cop over a minor contention at an eatery in the town.
He said that the cop pulled his trigger on the perished, shooting sporadically when different adolescents attempted to secure him over the murdering of the young fellow.
The Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Orlando Ikeokwu, said he was at this point to be advised on the improvement when NAN reached him on the issue.
