Arsenal star Lucas Torreira has failed to make an impression under Unai Emery this season.
Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torrreira has demanded showdown talks with the club because he’s unhappy with Unai Emery, reports say.
The Uruguay international was one of the first signings made by the Spaniard, who lured him to the club from Sampdoria shortly after the 2018 World Cup.
Torreira was key as Arsenal made the Europa League final last term but, this season, he’s made just three starts in the Premier League.
And Tuttomercatoweb claim that the 23-year-old has demanded showdown talks with the Gunners – and could leave as early as January.
Amid Arsenal’s struggles, Emery has been reluctant to throw the midfielder into the mix.
Instead, the likes of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, Dani Ceballos and Joe Willock have often been given the nod.
And Torreira wants assurances that he’ll be reinstated into the Arsenal first team sooner, rather than later.
Should the Gunners fail to provide such assurances then the midfielder is open to leaving the Gunners when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
And AC Milan are among the clubs interested in snapping him up, having failed when they enquired about his availability back in the summer.
They’ve also been linked with a move for Manchester United veteran Nemanja Matic.
But Torreira would be a significantly better buy due to his age, with the Arsenal star still having plenty of years to make a good career for himself.
Meanwhile, speaking recently, Arsenal hero Charlie Nicholas expressed his bemusement at Emery’s decision to regularly overlook Torreira.
“I don’t think the manager is under scrutiny,” he said.
“I know there are a lot of fans who will be questioning what he is doing. What are his choices? Why is Bellerin not back? Why did it take so long to get Tierney into the left-back position when he was fit?
